Sushi Kyotatsu

It was wonderful to quickly pick up high quality sushi. We had the choice of ordering off the menu and taking it to go or grab and go of already prepared items. Our two picks were both super yummy!

I am surprised by the number of great reviews. The nigiri was not particularly impressive to me. Tuna was the best tasting, but stringy. Hotate was on the dry side and cut very thinly. Iwashi still had little bones left in the flesh. None of my sushi were served brushed with nikiri sauce, less the anago. The rice was the saving grace, because it was actually done very well both in terms of taste and texture. Yes, I know this is airport sushi and perhaps I'm being overly critical. But that's exactly what this is, airport sushi: so manage your expectations, contrary to what some of the other reviews may lead you to think.

Nice and freshly made in front of you

This is no ordinary Airport Sushi restaurant. It's legit, high quality, top grade sushi. Very fresh, Amazing! And it's not cheap, but it so worth it. My favorite restaurant whenever I'm traveling through NRT Airport. Staff are very friendly, helpful and attentive.

Ok, first, let me admit that I haven't actually had sushi in Japan outside of this airport experience which may very well color my opinion. Regardless, if you are looking for sushi at Narita, I would highly recommend Kyotatsu. The tuna, yellowtail and eel were excellent. The Japanese tiger prawns were easily the best shrimp (ebi) sushi I have ever had. The rolls were ok. Price wise, it will take a bite out of the checkbook, but still worth it. The nigiri was served as one piece each which could be the norm in Japan, but I am used to the concept of 2 pieces each when ordering nigiri. And the cost was almost equivalent. All told, it was about around 1.5 times the price of sushi in the US. Whether that was the current exchange or just the price that is charged is debatable. Regardless, it was very good. Especially for an airport.

My second time at this wonderful place near gate 34 in Narita. Freshest sushi possible and such a level above any other airport restaurant it’s almost laughable and depressing it more airports can do this.

Seems like there's two branches here at Narita Airport- one near gate 35 and the other near gate 11, beside doutor coffee. Had the one near gate 35 and was so packed. It's good as a last sushi meal before flying off. You can also take away

Love it! The octopus nigiri is bomb, and all of the other nigiri 🍣 and rolls tried but the octopus with the wasabi was a standout. Tuna roll with wasabi, and salmon nigiri were great on top of the friendly and accommodating service. Absolutely worth a visit.

You put this place in Tokyo and it’d be very forgettable. Context of being in an airport is a large part of being the appeal. Happy this was my last meal in japan but i would not call this a must-visit. Have a great meal in Tokyo and then take the NEX. if you’re on a layover though, you must go to this place to get a taste of what japan can offer.

Calm, pleasant, sometimes beautiful. A variety of food and shopping choices and you, too, can order sushi in Japan even if you don't leave the airport.

Great place for a last sushi experience before getting onto your flight and leaving Japan. A but pricey for what you are getting but I'd say it's worth it if you are craving a little snack. The fish seemed fresh and everything is prepared on command and the chef's then make the sushi for you. They are quite busy so give yourself 10-15mins in order to not miss your flight.

I was extremely excited because I was in Tokyo for a layover and this airport had sushi! Of course I wanted to try it. I got the sashimi platter and a salmon bowl and I've got to say that the fish was not as tender as if you are going into a restaurant within Japan. It's a bit flavorless and the wasabi was definitely not fresh. If it on the disappointing side, especially for the price. On the bright side, the service was great! The wait wasn't long, as long as you were open to being seated anywhere. Overall, it was just okay.

Love this place considering it’s the only place in the terminal to get fresh, quality sushi. The service is fast and efficient and the food is excellent and consistent each time. The chefs however are a bit unprofessional at times so I would suggest sitting at the table instead of at the sushi counter.

I was very happy with the service, atmosphere and food quality. I had previously been disappointed when I ate a different restaurant in terminal 1, but figured I couldn’t do any better if I’m stuck in the airport. Ah, but you can do MUCH better if you find this little culinary gem hiding in the miles and miles of uninspired food options available in this massive terminal. After being seated and finding real sushi chefs working diligently using what looked like very fresh fish I must say that I was quite delighted. I can report that the suggested local (local to that region of Japan’s ocean waters - if I remember correctly) caught tuna sushi was very good and highly suggested even if the price is rather high. As a recap: this is a big win for anyone stuck in the terminal during a transfer.

Wherever you are in terminal 1 walk here for sushi. If you're transferring make this a required stop on your trip. Better than you'll find at top sushi places in the US. My must order here is Aji, Uni, Kohada, and fatty Salmon. It really that good.

High quality fresh sushi restaurant that is available conveniently at the Narita airport near Gate 3x!Even though it is quite pricing, the freshness and quality of its dishes are really on par with what you can find in town. I love sitting at the bar area so to see the masters making sushis while enjoying them. Be prepared that queues can be long during their afternoon peak hours from 2 to 6pm.

With 1.5hr transit time, choice was to squander precious time on duty-free shopping, hot shower at ANA lounge, or sushi. No prizes which won. Go for dine in if you have time, although I’ve seen people queuing for their sushi to-go boxes. I paid 4,000 yen for Tuna Lux and 870 for a piece of sea urchin.

Very good food for airport standard. Definitely the place to head to for your last sashimi/chirachi fix before you leave Japan. It was difficult to find as the English name was not labeled on the board. Near gates 34. Easier if they stated which gate it was on rather than the map location.

The best place to have fresh and delicious sushi at the Narita Airport Terminal 1. Some people might find the prices here a bit high, however if you are after quality, this is the place to go. I always stop by when I am around.

This is not just very good sushi by airport standard, but very good sushi by any standard! The sushi chefs are wonderful too. Too bad I had to rush, otherwise I would definitely enjoy this much longer. This is now a must have if you depart from Terminal 1. A little bit on the expensive side though, about ¥3,000 per sushi set (lunch). They are on the North Wing right before the Gate 11-18 section.

A last min dinner before flying off, I ordered the Japanese Wild Blue-Fin Tuna Set. A very premium taste, I've had other premium sushi in Australia, nothing compares to Japan freshness. The chef and staff are super friendly.Well worth the a visit before you set off.

We've travelled quite a fair bit, and most of the time airport food is just, ok? This place was by far the best meal I have ever had in an airport and probably some of the best sushi I have had as well. Very fresh.The servers are friendly and quick to help. They are also very accommodating if you need to make an adjustment to their presets.

Outside of Tokyo itself, this is consistently some of the best sushi I’ve ever had!!The tuna combo is amazing, it’s on a different card from the menu. If you like sushi, everything is amazing. Scallop, salmon, they have 3 different types of eel, have to always try all of them! (Traditional unagi, freshwater eel, and eel from japan).

They say it's the last chance for one to have good sushi in Japan and it's true. I've had Sushi Kyotatsu once while transiting through Narita, and another time on my way back from DC. The food is delicious and consistent. I had the chirashi, akagai sushi, and asari miso soup and they were all excellent. The chirashi was well balanced and the fish were all fresh. The asari miso was flavorful and the clams were excellent (big and juicy and flavorful). Service was also excellent. Highly recommend Sushi Kyotatsu.

If you do not have time to visit the city, this place was a nice alternative to authentic Japanese sushi.

I recommend visiting this sushi restaurant. When visiting there, I did not imagine many things but the menu was so nice to me. Before your flight, you can be full with enough sushi.I think the price ordinary and you can see inner airport with planes. I was satisfied with 7 pieces of sushi and 6 pieces of maki. Anyway, there are many kinds of food so you can choose your menu.Have a nice trip!

It’s a good place to grab a quick bite for sushi lovers, but quite pricey! If you’re going to land in Japan, I’d suggest having sushi outside, and skip this place haha.

Pretty good place. They accept credit cards which is rare. Also right next to a gift shop if you need any last minute gifts and such.

High quality sushi place you can enjoy before departure. It provides both dine in and to go options. There is a sushi bar with two chefs who make sushi in front of you. Price wise it's on the expensive side compare to the sushi restaurants in Tokyo but the fish quality is very good. Consider you can enjoy the high quality sushi in the airport anytime when you arrived, especially if you are transport through Tokyo or don't have time to enjoy good sushi restaurant during your stay. It's definitely a good choice.If there is one thing I have to complain is that will make you hard to accept normal sushi place when you back to your own country out of Japan. :)

I live this airport. Always clean and great place to layover. For a lot of international travelers, Narita Airport is the gateway to SE Asia which makes this airport that much more spectacular. If you have the time, you can sit and watch all of the different tribes of the world rush to their next flight.

If you're skeptical about sushi/nigiri/sashimi from the airport, don't be. The nigiri was brilliant and I was pleased to have a layover on the return trip where I could have a full platter.

Excellent sushi. Some of the best I've ever had. Would highly recommend their omakase. The chefs were great and had the best recommendations for how to have each item.

If you are going threw this airport on a layover, stop here. Do yourself a favor and at least get some to go sushi. They have a to go line, they take debit cards, it takes very little time, and the food is great.

The dish tastes fresh. I opted for mixed chirashi 2100Yen and Sea Urchin Sushi 850Yen. Highly recommended for sushi and Sashimi lovers. The Chef is still the same chef that I remembered 2 years ago!

Incredible sushi! Good prices. Would not expect this in an airport but leave it to the Japanese to do things right. I come here every time I’m in Narita.

A great way to end our Tokyo trip! Sushi Kyotatsu isn't just very good airport food, it was one of the best sushi we had in Tokyo! The fish tasted so delicious and fresh that we didn't want to leave. It is a little pricey, but it was well worth spending the remainder of our yen to enjoy the food and view. The staff was also very friendly and served us quickly. Definitely try this place if you're in the mood for sushi!
